Service Description

Having a relationship with a narcissist or with someone who has narcissistic personality traits may leave you feeling like you don't know who you are, what you like, what you want from life, or even that you don't deserve anything or anyone in life. You will have been lied to, probably cheated on, manipulated, ignored or criticised, depending on their mood, starved emotionally, mentally, financially and quite possible physically. Narcissism is on the increase and it isn't your fault. You may well have been on the receiving end of blame for everything. Your boundaries will have been shaken, if you are lucky, and if you are not so lucky, they may have been destroyed completely. The path of recovery is similar to experiencing grief, there is the acceptance and realisation of what has happened to you, followed by any number of feelings which you are left with, everything from rage and anger to disappointment and deep sadness. The process of recovery does not involve pretending everything is okay. It does involve some looking at how you feel, talking about the situation, making sense of what came out of the narcissist and what came out of you in response. You are not alone. If you have suffered at the hands of a narcissist, choose a therapist who has some experience of trauma so they can help you through the process of recovery. Whoever you choose to help you on your journey, good luck.
